As consumers, we are responsible for mountainous landfills, overwhelming amounts of greenhouse gases, and overuse of our natural resources. As consumers it is our responsibility to make a change, make a difference, think about the future. There is a notion that small changes will not affect the big picture. We do not respect that notion.

For years, we have talked about what to do with old sails, canvas shorts and scrap, shipping boxes, and numerous other recoverable items. For years sails stacked up in the attic, occasionally canvas made it to a school art department, but mostly the dumpster filled up time after time. Recently we have decided to make a concerted effort, a change.
  • Old sails recycled into, bags, covers, even recut into useable sails again.
  • Canvas scrap into colorful ice bags, duffle bags and hand bags
  • Sailcloth leftovers to tarps and duffle’s
  • Cardboard boxes returned to their original source or packaged and recycled (our dumpster usage has been cut in half)
  • Light bulbs converted to compact fluorescents
  • Fossil fuel replaced by wood
  • My family conserves enough energy to live off the grid, powered by solar and wind.
It is possible, even realistic to make a difference, while still making a profit and enjoying the comforts we have become accustomed to.

Our recycling program incorporates the use of cloth otherwise thrown out, donates 10% of sales to The Coalition for Buzzards Bay, and employs local people. That is in part, our future.
Please check out our recycled bags for sale under products and gear, and take a look at The Coalition for Buzzards Bay’s website to see how they are helping our local environment.
